Will you give information about having ayatul-kursiyy on us in the form of a necklace? What is the decree about having Jawshan (a prayer book) on us?

The Details of the Question

They sell things on which ayatul-kursiyy is written in the form of necklace. However, the vowel points are missing. They say they keep it like that so as not to take it off when they go to toilet. Will you give information about it?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

There is no difference between the necklace without vowel points and the one with vowel points. It is appropriate to put it in the clothes before going to toilet.

It is permissible to have things on which verses or prayers are written on us. Abdullah bin Umar narrated the following from the Prophet (pbuh):

"If one of you fears while sleeping, he should say the following prayer: 'I take refuge in the words of Allah, who is free from any incompleteness, from Allah's wrath and torture, the evil of His servants, the delusions of Satan and their coming near me.' Then, nothing will harm him."

Abdullah bin Umar taught it to his children who reached the age of distinguishing and wrote it on something for his younger children and put it around their necks. (Tirmidhi, Daawat, 94)
