What should a person who becomes junub while travelling or when he is a guest in a house do?
What is a person's responsibility when he becomes junub unwillingly (for instance, while sleeping) when he is a traveler? Similarly, what should a person who becomes junub when he is a guest in a house do? It is difficult to ask to have a bath.
Dear Brother / Sister,
The states that necessitate tayammum are as follows:
1. If water is at least four thousand steps, that is three kilometers, away from the person who needs cleaning,
2. If there is a danger like getting ill, the illness deteriorating or lengthening when water is used,
3. If there is a danger of one's body, wealth, chastity and honor being harmed when the water that is near is obtained,
4. If the water that is available is not enough for wudu or ghusl,
5. If one thinks that he, his friend or animal will die of thirst if water is used for wudu or ghusl,
6. If rope or a bucket cannot be found to extract water from the well,
7. If there is a possibility of missing eid or janazah prayers all when wudu or ghusl is made with the water that is found.
In that case, a person who becomes junub while travelling can make tayammum due to being unable to find water or becoming ill and performs prayers. However, if he has to continue travelling, if he can be harmed when he stops travelling, water is virtually regarded as non-existent; therefore, he makes tayammum to perform prayers but makes ghusl as soon as he finds an occasion.
If a person who fears the misinterpretation that could arise because of having a wet dream in the house he is staying as a guest delays his ghusl, he can get up with the other people in the house for prayer and pretend to pray with them without reading the Quran since the Quran cannot be read in the state of janabah, by just standing, bowing down and prostrating. The guest who acts like that in prayer can wash his hands and mouth in order to eat with them. Then, as soon as he finds an occasion, he makes ghusl without causing any rumors and gets cleaned.
There is no difficulty in the religion. There is always a way out in such cases. The one we mentioned above is a way out. This person repents and asks for forgiveness due to delaying and missing the prayer; our Lord will forgive him inshaallah and accept it as an excuse.
Besides, there are some scholars who say that a person who has a wet dream in a house where he is a visitor can make tayammum if he is shy about making ghusl. For, it means water is virtually non-existent. However, if it is not possible for him to make tayammum secretly, it is appropriate for him to pretend to pray- so as not to cause mischief. For, if he does not perform the prayer, mischief could occur too.
