Are prayer and wudu invalidated if a person vomits in prayer? Is prayer invalidated if a person swallows the puke that comes to his mouth?

Dear Brother / Sister,

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

"Puke invalidates prayer." (Tirmidhi, Taharah, 64)

If the puke is not a mouthful, wudu is not invalidated. Puke may be food water, bile, etc. If the puke that comes gradually reaches the amount of a mouthful, wudu is invalidated.

To vomit in prayer: To vomit a mouthful in prayer invalidates wudu but not prayer. In that case, if such a person makes wudu again without doing anything else, he can resume his prayer. If he vomits less than a mouthful, neither his wudu nor his prayer is invalidated.

If a person vomits a mouthful and swallows it though it is possible to keep it in the moth, both his wudu and his prayer are invalidated. However, if it is not a mouthful, his prayer is not invalidated according to Abu Yusuf, but it is invalidated according to Imam Muhammad. What is more appropriate in terms of caution is the view of Imam Muhammad. (Fatawayi Qadihan – Fatawa al-Hindiyya)

If a person forces himself to vomit and if a mouthful of puke comes, his prayer is invalidated. If it is less, his prayer is not invalidated. (al-Muhit / Radiyuddin Sarakhsi - Majmaul-Anhur)

Note: To vomit a mouthful invalidates both wudu and prayer. Puke may be food water, bile, etc. If the puke that comes gradually reaches the amount of a mouthful, wudu is invalidated. A little amount of puke does not invalidate wudu; to swallow this little amount does not invalidate prayer.
