What is the wisdom behind the fact that the Prophet Musa (Moses) is mentioned a lot in the Quran? Is the father of the girls Moses met in Madyan the Prophet Shuayb (Jethro)?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

1. The name Musa (Moses) has a large place in the books of history of religions. The Torah, one of the four great heavenly (divine) books, was sent to Moses; and all the prophets between him and Isa (Jesus) except Dawud (David) were assigned the duty of spreading and practicing his religion.

The name of Moses is mentioned in thirty-four chapters of the Quran, in one hundred and thirty-six places. The name of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) is close to only half of this number. In other words, in the Holy Quran, the place allocated to Moses (pbuh) and his nation covers a few juzes (parts) of the Quran.

The events that can be considered as cornerstones in the life and prophethood of Moses (pbuh) are as follows: His birth and being put into water, his departure from Egypt, the years spent in the region of Madyan, his return to Egypt, the encounter with magicians, the destruction of Pharaoh and his army...

Since the struggle of Moses with Pharaoh is a struggle of belief and unbelief, it is mentioned a lot in the Quran.

2. The father of the girls Moses met is mentioned in the city of Madyan is mentioned as Shuayb (Jethro) in history books. It is mentioned in books such as Tabari’s Tarikh, Thalabi’s Arais and Ibn Athir’s Kamil.
