Is it fard to read the supplications of Allahumma Salli and Barik in the last sitting according to Shafiis?

The Details of the Question

Is it fard to read salawat for the Prophet (pbuh) in the first sitting of the prayers with two sittings?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

According to Shafiis, it is fard to read salawat in the last sitting. The minimum amount is to say: "Allahumma salli ala Muhammad". However, it is the best to read Allahumma Salli and Barik supplications.

It is among strong sunnahs to read salawat for the Prophet (pbuh) in the first sitting of the prayers with two sittings. If it is abandoned, sajdah as-sahw becomes necessary.
