The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
The Prophet (pbuh) states the following:
"The closest moment of a slave to his Lord is when he is in prostration. Therefore, increase prayer in prostration." (Abu Dawud, II, 33).
As it is understood from this hadith, it is appropriate for a person to prostrate outside prayer and to pray in prostration.
