The following is stated in the chapter of Yasin: "They will all be brought up before Us with no more than a single blast." How should we understand it?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

"It will be no more than a single Blast, when lo! they will all be brought up before Us." (Yasin, 36/53)

The word sayha translated as "a single blast" in the verse means the second blowing of the Sur (Trumpet) – in a way that will enable resurrection – after Doomsday strikes and life ends.1

This blowing – which is the blowing of resurrection and coming out of graves – will be very quick. When the Sur is blown for the second time, all people will gather and enter into the presence of their Lord very quickly for reckoning. As a matter of fact, Allah Almighty states the following:

"Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller..." (al-Qamar, 54/8)

Reckoning is true and it will take place in a just manner. The return for the deeds will be based on the criteria of justice. Therefore, the reward of no deed will be decreased no matter how small it is; people will be given nothing but what is appropriate for their good and bad deeds.
