Are we regarded to have committed a sin for our photographs taken with uncovered head?

The Details of the Question

If a covered woman has her photo taken with uncovered head and if this photo is shown to people without her knowledge, will she be regarded to have committed a sin as if she was travelling with her head uncovered due to the men who look at that photo and does the sin increases as each man looks at it?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

Women who undergo the excitement of making very serious changes in their lives after starting to wear hijab look for ways to make up for the mistakes they had made in their previous lives.

She makes many changes in her life, from the clothes she wore before to the items she uses at home, from the people she befriends to the magazines, books and newspapers she reads. Those changes raise the issue of what to do with the “former ones”.

One of them is the uncovered photographs taken previously. It is both easy and difficult to correct that mistake. The easy one is the pictures in your own hands and in your own home. They must not be shown to non-mahram men. Some of those photographs are in the albums of relatives and acquaintances. If possible, one should ask for their return, try to get them, or ask those people not to show them to non-mahram men.
