Arabia will once again become meadows and rivers
The Hadith that says that Arabia will once again become gardens and rivers or meadows and rivers, has this started to happen yet? And isn’t this a minor sign that will happen before the coming of Imam Mahdi? And isn’t this also evidence that perhaps Global Warming and human caused climate change is a hoax and that the earth will see another cooling period again where temperatures are cooler?
Dear Brother / Sister,
Yes, it has begun; however, we cannot know how long it will continue.
Abū Hurayrah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) narrates that the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam) said:
“The Hour will not be established until wealth becomes abundant and overflows from the doors, to such an extent that a man will take out the zakāh of his wealth but will find no one to accept it. And the Hour will not be established until the land of the Arabs / the Arabian Peninsula becomes green again, with rivers flowing.”
(See: Muslim, Zakāt, 60; Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, 2/370, 417; Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid, 7/331)
This hadith indicates that, toward the end of time, the Arabs who once lived a desert life would attain great wealth and develop their lands. Witnessing such developments today may be regarded as one of the Prophet’s (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam) miracles concerning matters of the unseen.
