Is prayer invalidated when an organ is uncovered during prayer? What is the criterion for it?

The Details of the Question

During prayer, the waist of my spouse was opened in prostration and I saw it. Is the wudu or prayer of my spouse or both of them invalidated? Is it different if it is anybody else? That is, is the invalidation of the prayer different in terms of mahram or nan-mahram people?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

If less than one-fourth of the waist is uncovered, prayer is not invalidated. Wudu is not invalidated when an organ is uncovered.

If an awrah place of a person is uncovered in prayer and if he covers it at once, his prayer is valid. There is consensus about it. If it remains uncovered long enough to fulfill a rukn, prayer is invalidated. There is consensus about it too. However, according to Imam Muhammad, prayer is invalidated if he does not cover it until he fulfills a rukn. If he waits long enough to fulfill a rukn but does not fulfill a rukn, prayer is invalidated. (Sharhu Nuqaya / Sheikh Abul-Makarim)

The first view is regarded more appropriate in terms of caution.
