Is the thought of the creation of living beings all of a sudden not contrary to Allah's sunnah of creation though the whole universe was created based on a system and a fine mechanism?

The Details of the Question

- I have read your fish-frog example on evolution. However, as a Muslim biologist, the creation of these two creatures at the same time, and the absence of any mechanism, is not compatible with Allah's sunnah of creation because even the world, the moon etc. were created from the sun; the solar system, and galaxies were created from nebula with the Big Bang. Even iron was sent down with meteorites. In fact, Allah does not need a meteorite for iron, nor a sun for the world, nor a big bang for the universe.

- The Lord, who creates many things based on a system with incomprehensible mechanisms, is free from creating things suddenly as you say. (The evolution I defend is the evolution and creation of non-human creatures.)

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

All beings in the universe are the work of Allah. Since the world is a world of testing and wisdom, God Almighty creates everything based on a reason. He made the apple tree a reason for the apple, the chicken for the egg, the lamb for the sheep, and the mother and father for the child. In fact, it is Allah who creates the causes and reasons too.

Although creation that takes place today is like that, it is not possible to explain the issue of the first creation of each living species based on the causes today. That is, a frog and its egg are the causes for the frog to come into being. However, since they were absent in the first creation, one should not seek a cause in the creation of the first frog.

What is meant by the frog’s coming into being suddenly is to express that it did not form as a frog after existing in a number of different living bodies, but that it was created directly as a frog. We do not know the truth about it. There might or might not be a period, a gradual development in the first creation of the frog and every other living species.

Today, chicks emerge from chicken eggs after a certain time. In the creation of the first chicken, a chick may have emerged from an egg. There is no difference in terms of creation between the creation of that single first egg and the formation of the chicken from the egg, whether it happened in a single moment or in a certain amount of days.

Since nobody saw the first creation of living species and since it is not possible to repeat it under those original conditions, it is impossible to prove it scientifically. It is necessary to show respect to every idea and thought to be put forward as long as it attributes the creation of every living species to Allah and it does not contradict what the verses of the Quran and hadiths state. Each one may have some truth. Islam encourages research, thinking and reasoning at this point on the condition that the universe is seen as the work of Allah.

In conclusion, the first creation of each living species may have taken place gradually, like the hatching of a chick from a chicken egg in twenty-one days, that is, in a certain period of time, or they may have been created in a single moment. However, in this creation, it is not possible for a living species to form another living species by changing in terms of biological and genetic structure. The genetic structure of each living species is peculiar to itself, and it is not scientifically possible for it to remain unchanged and to produce another living being at the same time by changing completely; that is, a fish cannot remain as a fish and form a frog at the same time by changing.
