Is it permissible to send the thawab of khatm al-Quran to more than one person?
- Is it permissible to send the thawab of khatm al-Quran to more than one person? I intended it for the spirit of the Prophet, forgiveness of sins and for the spirits of my dead relatives. What is the appropriate intention for it? Is there a limitation about it?
Dear Brother / Sister,
The thawab of khatm al-Quran can be sent to the spirits of all prophets, primarily the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and the believers; it is permissible to make intention like that.
The Quran that is read and khatm al-Quran are like a lamp since they are luminous. When a person brings kerosene, another person mantle, another person glass and yet another person matches, etc., all of them have a full lamb and benefit from the lamb when it is burnt. If all of them have mirrors in their hands, each of them can say, "The lamp is with me." When one of them benefits from it, it does not prevent the others from benefitting from it.
The people who read different juzes (parts) of the Quran to perform a khatm al-Quran burn such a spiritual lamp. The lights of the lamps are their thawabs. Those who take part in the khatm receive thawabs from this spiritual light equally; the thawab one of them takes does not prevent the thawabs of others nor does it decrease them.
