Is it permissible for women to ride motorcycles? When the effect of the wind is considered in particular, does it not cause their body outlines to be obvious while riding a motorcycle?
The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
There is no religious objection to women’s riding bicycles and motorcycles when it is necessary if they do not display any provocative acts and appearance.
However, if hijab and privacy decrees are not heeded on the motorcycle or bicycle, it is not permissible to ride like that.
If we consider the issue in terms of taqwa, it may be preferable for women not to ride motorcycles or bicycles. However, they are also mounts and they may vary according to conditions, climate and region.
