The Details of the Question
Essalamou Alaykoum ,
My husband converted 4 years ago hamdou li Allah. He is finding fasting very difficult. Last year, he fasted the first 4 days and had to take 2 days off work after that. This year, he is only fasting on Sundays. What does he need to do in terms of Fidya. He hasn´t got a physical illness. It is just that when he fasts he cannot function physically and mentally. What do you think he should be doing and how much fidya should he giving per day missed? Jazaka Allah khayr The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
If he hasn’t any physical illnesses then it is obligatory for him to fast in Ramadan. Giving ransom (fidyah) does not save him from the responsibility of fasting.
