Dear Brother / Sister,
If a man shows consent to his wife’s going out without covering her head, he will also be held responsible. However, if she goes out without covering her head or if she does not perform prayers though her husband does not show consent, the woman will be held responsible. The man will not be held responsible because of it.
If the woman does not fulfill the orders of the religion, her husband should give advice to her. He should try to make her read the books about the decrees and importance of covering her body and prayers, and make her listen to good preachers.
If the woman does not change by any means, he should get tough with her a bit in order to save her eternal life; if she insists on not obeying, he should keep away from her temporarily. If she does not change again, man’s duty is over. The responsibility lies with her after that.
It is not necessary to divorce such a woman. It is very bad to divorce especially after having children. Since it is permissible to marry a Christian and a Jewish woman in Islam, it is definitely permissible to marry a sinful Muslim woman. A sinful Muslim woman is far superior to a Christian and a Jewish woman.
