Why did Allah want us to find His existence through a book?
- Charlie Chaplin said, If I speak, only those who speak English will understand me; but anyone can understand a silent movie and the world does not consist of England only.'' A human being uttered that statement and many people watched his movies without technological translation as he said. He managed to convey his message (even if through body language).
- Why did Allah, the sublime Creator, who has power on everything, want us to find His existence through a book?
- Would more people not find the true path by believing in this religion if He informed people about it with something that everybody would see, like a hologram in the sky, instead of a book?

Dear Brother / Sister,
- Allah wanted to introduce Himself by creating the universe. He staged this ontological "silent film" with multiple messages so that everyone could understand it. In addition, He gave people mind, heart, feelings and many faculties to understand those scenes. In other words, it is a perfect communication scene in terms of both the transmitter and the receiver / both in terms of the quality of the film and the quality of the audience...
- However, knowing that the abovementioned devices given to people did not or could not work correctly for some reasons at least in some people or in the majority of them, Allah also staged one / or several "audio versions" of this "silent film" by sending books. This fact is underlined in the following verse:
“Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight.” (Bakara, 2/213)
- We see "audio versions" of this "silent film", explaining it throughout the Quran.
It is possible to understand this fact from the following expressions used by Badiuzzaman Said Nursi while describing the Quran:
“The Qur’an is the pre-eternal translator of the mighty Book of the Universe; the post-eternal interpreter of the various tongues reciting the verses of creation; the commentator of the book of the Worlds of the Seen and the Unseen; the revealer of the treasuries of the Divine Names hidden in the heavens and on the earth; the key to the truths concealed beneath the lines of events; the tongue of the Unseen World in the Manifest World; the treasury of the post-eternal favors of the Most Merciful and of the pre-eternal addresses of the Most Holy, which come from the World of the Unseen beyond the veil of this Manifest World; it is the sun, foundation, and plan of the spiritual world of Islam; the sacred map of the worlds of the hereafter; the expounding word, lucid exposition, decisive proof, and clear interpreter of the Divine Essence, attributes, Names, and functions…" (Sözler, Yirmi Beşinci Söz, p. 366)
Some verses showing this fact are as follows:
“It is He Who hath created for you all things that are on earth; Moreover His design comprehended the heavens, for He gave order and perfection to the seven firmaments; and of all things He hath perfect knowledge.” (al-Baqara, 2/29).
“Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.” (al-Baqara, 2/164).
“Do they not look at the sky above them?- How We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it? And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs).” (Qaf, 50/6-7).
- It is possible to understand from these explanations and verses that Allah created the book of the universe - to put it in the words in the question - as "a silent film", and then, it was “dubbed” and interpreted by the heavenly books, especially the last book, the Quran, so that people would fully understand this silent film, which addresses their consciousness.
- According to Imam Maturidi, although this silent universe movie is sufficient for people to know at least the existence of Allah, there is no doubt that it is insufficient related to details. According to Imam Ashari, on the other hand, since this "silent film" cannot be understood on its own, there must be "heavenly books" that are regarded as its audio versions.
