Is it a sin to neglect daily dhikr? What does dhikr mean? Does the thawab of the prayer that is said decrease when it is sent to many people?

The Details of the Question

Apart from my daily dhikr, I read the chapters of al-Fatiha and al-Ikhlas every day and send their thawab to the Messenger of Allah, his family, his Companions, all prophets, saints, friends of Allah, scholars, martyrs my relatives who died, my mother, father and my own soul. 1. Does the thawab decrease when I send it to so many people? 2. Sometimes, I am deceived by Satan and neglect my dhikr; I keep myself busy with other things. Is it a major sin? For, Allah says, "The best dhikr is the one that is said regularly even if it is little."

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

A person is not regarded to have committed a major sin when he neglects his regular dhikr. Dhikr in the sense it is used in a tariqah is not a fard worship. However, a person is advised to read/say the dhikr he regularly does.

Worshipping like performing prayers and supplication are also dhikr. It will be a sin to abandon them.

When you send the thawab of the Quran and dhikr to many people, your thawab does not decrease. For, they are luminous and the thawabs will reach everybody in the same way no matter how many people you send them to.
