Is it permissible to read prayers and chapters of the Quran in bed? Is it necessary to open the hands while saying prayers?
That is, is it permissible to read prayers like ayat al-kursiyy, etc while lying in bed?
Dear Brother / Sister,
It is permissible to say prayers while lying. It is sunnah for a person who wants to read the Quran to make wudu and to sit facing the qiblah. However, it is permissible to read the Quran while walking or lying?
Ishaq bin Ibrahim says, "I heard Abu Abdullah read the chapter of al-Kahf while walking to mosque with him."
Hz. Aisha says,
"I would read the Quran while lying on the sofa." (Mughni, I/803)
Since it is permissible to read even the Quran while lying, you can read the prayers from the Quran and hadiths.
It is not necessary to open the hands while saying prayers. Therefore, a person can say prayers without opening his hands in bed.
