If a person understands after performing a prayer that something that invalidates prayer occurred during the prayer, does he have to perform it again if the time for that prayer has not ended yet?
Dear Brother / Sister,
If something that invalidates prayer occurs during the prayer and if it is noticed, it has to be performed again immediately. If the time period for that prayer ends, it needs to be performed as a missed prayer. The same thing is valid for prayers performed in congregation, too.
According to Shafiis, a prayer becomes invalid if a person has any impurity on him. Therefore, if a person notices after performing a prayer that there was some impurity on him, he has to perform that prayer again. If he notices after performing a prayer that there was some impurity on him after the time period for that prayer ends, he has to perform that prayer as a missed prayer.
