If a mother raises her voice in prayer in order to warn the children who misbehave, is her prayer invalidated?
Dear Brother / Sister,
If a person who is in prayer recites a verse or mentions Allah’s name in order to give an order to a person who is not in prayer or to prevent him from doing something, his prayer is invalidated. However, if he wants to remind that person that he is in prayer while doing so, his prayer is not invalidated. As a matter of fact, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) states the following in a hadith:
«It is not appropriate to say any human words in prayer because prayer consists of tasbih, takbir and reading the Quran.» (Musnad, 5/447-448; Nasai, Sahw, 20; see Muslim, Masajid, 35; Abu Dawud, Salah, 174)
