Did Ghaylani accompany the Prophet during Miraj (Ascension)?
About the meeting of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Sheikh Abdulqadir Jawlani.
My mother told me this: During Isra and Miraj journey, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ traveled to every heaven, met with other prophets, and Jibril (Gabriel) took him to each heaven. When they reached the 4th or 7th heaven (she does not remember exactly), Jibril said to the Prophet ﷺ, “You cannot go beyond this point; this is my limit.” Then Sheikh Abdulqadir Jawlani met the Prophet ﷺ and took him to a place even Jibbril could not go.
When I asked my mother about it, I told her it was impossible because Sheikh Abdulqadir was born centuries after the Prophet ﷺ. My mother, however, insisted that it was true.
Please provide your answer with references: Did this meeting really take place? If not, where might some Muslims have heard about it and believed it?
Dear Brother / Sister,
We could not find such information in the relevant hadith sources. Such an event is out of the question.
It is possible that some Sufi and Qadiri order members passed down such narratives to emphasize the spiritual closeness of their sheikhs to the Prophet. Therefore, it may be a metaphorical or Sufi narrative but it is not a real historical event.
