Are there any occasions when daily prayers can be abandoned or postponed?
Dear Brother / Sister,
There is no serious excuse for abandoning a fard prayer except fainting that lasts for a period of time that covers the beginning and end of a prayer time, being in a coma, being in a severe and intense war and being unconscious after an operation. Prayers need to be performed during a war, in a busy working day, during an illness and while travelling. Prayers cannot be skipped or postponed due to simple excuses. There are some easing methods that can be resorted to. Performing prayer of fear (a group of soldiers performing the first rak'ah in congregation following the imam and another group replacing them in the second rak'ah) during a war, performing a prayer by sitting during an illness, performing two rak'ahs instead of four while travelling, etc.
For, prayer means a meeting with our Lord. Nothing can or should prevent us from meeting our Creator. When it is time for a prayer, it cannot be postponed due to some excuses like being very busy, having no appropriate place, etc.
