According to Hanafi madhhab, it is wajib to read an additional chapter or verses after al-Fatiha in all rak’ahs of sunnah prayers (muakkadah and ghayr muakkadah) and nafilah prayers. (see al-Bahrur-Raiq, 2/102; Ibn Abidin, 1/458-459)
