Can Two Gods Exist If They Rule Separate Universes?
Muslims argue that two gods cannot exist because if two gods ruled the same universe, conflicting wills would eventually lead to contradiction or disorder. However, that argument only addresses two gods governing the same universe. What if there are two separate universes, each ruled by its own god? In that case, there is no conflict over the same creation. Furthermore, even if either god were able to intervene in the other's universe, what if they always consented to each other's actions? There would still be no conflict. And even if they were two distinct beings, what if they necessarily shared the same will and always desired exactly the same things? In that case, there would never be a contradiction or disagreement. If all of this is possible, why must there be only one God? How would you demonstrate that two distinct gods are impossible in this scenario? Can you present a conclusive argument demonstrating that God must necessarily be one, such that it is logically impossible for multiple gods to exist under any circumstances? The argument should be strong enough that no future objection, new philosophical argument, new logical formulation, or new demonstration could ever establish the possibility of multiple gods. In other words, it should completely rule out polytheism and show that the existence of only one necessary God is logically unavoidable.
Dear Brother / Sister,
In any case, neither would possess absolute sovereignty or be the absolute Creator. Since each would limit the other, neither could be an infinite, absolute God who does whatever He wills. God must be One, limitless, and act as He wills with wisdom.
Therefore, all views other than the belief in one God are false.
