There would not be any limits for it." What does it mean? What is the role of the name Hakim here?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

When Allah creates a creature, He creates it with many of His attributes. For instance, Allah is the Giver of Life. He has the power to give life to all beings. However, in accordance with His wisdom, He did not give any life to some creatures like stones and He gave life to some creatures to a certain extent; like people, animals and plants having different levels of life. This is the manifestation of the name Hayy with wisdom.

Allah has power over everything. This is true but Allah has one more name. It is Hakim. That is, He does not do anything nonsense or meaningless; there is something good and useful in everything He does. For instance, He has the power to enlarge our ears, noses, fingers and toes but it will not be nice. In this sense, everything Allah created in the universe is appropriate. There is nothing lacking or extra.

On the other hand, the world is a place of testing. In this place of testing, Allah creates whatever a person wishes with his own will. It is not in accordance with the mystery of testing for man to do something extraordinary.

However, Allah may sometimes give something as a reward to His beloved slaves in this world, like giving miracles to prophets and karamah to saints.

Another issue is that some facts never change. They remain as Allah created. For instance, it is not appropriate to expect a bird from a tree. Likewise, it is contrary to Allah’s names Adil and Hakim for a fact to change except for a miracle and karamah. From this point of view, Allah does whatever He wishes and He has power over everything. However, He will do things in the way that His wisdom, justice and mystery of testing necessitate.

It will be wrong to confuse Allah’s names and their manifestations. Yes, Allah has power over everything. For instance, He can create two heads in people, create all people all of a sudden and arrange the whole time as night or day. However, He creates gradually and in the course of time in accordance with His name Hakim. That is, one name can limit another name in manifestation. If it is in accordance with wisdom and suitable for the name Hakim, His power will create it.
