Do houris in Paradise have gender? How can everybody be given two wives in Paradise?
How can the couples who were married in the world be given two wives in Paradise?
Dear Brother / Sister,
Houri is the name given to the girls of Paradise. The couples who are married in this world will marry each other if they go to Paradise.
When a single believing woman dies and goes to Paradise, Allah Almighty will marry her off to a believing man. For, one of the pleasures of Paradise along with eating and drinking is marriage. A woman will also make use of this boon.
As it is known, every man in Paradise will be given houris based on his rank along with two worldly wives. On the other hand, as it is known, both women and men can die as virgins. Allah Almighty will marry single men off in Paradise.
Besides, the wives of the men of Hell will be inherited by believing men of Paradise. As it is stated in various hadiths, believing men will marry a woman of Paradise like that apart from their wives. (Ibn Majah, Zuhd: 39)
