How should adhan be called? What are the manners of calling adhan? Did the Prophet (pbuh) give any advice to those calling adhan about how to call it?
Did the Prophet (pbuh) give any advice to those calling adhan about how to call it? That is, did he tell them to lengthen the vowels or to call it as loudly as they could? How was adhan called at that time?
Dear Brother / Sister,
What are the qualifications that need to be present in adhan and iqamah?
1. Adhan has to be called aloud. For, the purpose of adhan is to inform people about the time of prayer. However, it is not necessary to force oneself in order to call adhan louder.
2. It is necessary to stop and wait between the sentences of adhan. It is called tarassul. It is necessary to keep silent for a while and wait after saying, "Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar". Tarassul is not made in iqamah. Words are uttered one after another with a medium voice.
3. It is necessary to observe the order of the words in adhan and iqamah. The places of the words must not be changed. Adhan must always be called before iqamah.
4. One must not do anything else to intervene in adhan or iqamah while calling it.
5. Iqamah must not be called immediately after adhan. There must be an interval between adhan and iqamah. An interval must exist between adhan and iqamah by saying prayers, reading the Quran or performing a sunnah prayer. However, an interval long enough to read three verses is sufficient between adhan and iqamah in the evening (maghrib) prayer.
