What happens if the Quran is read incompletely or wrongly?
Dear Brother / Sister,
One should read by trying not to skip any verses while making khatm (reading the whole Quran). It is hoped that Allah will give reward for a full khatm if a person skips some parts by mistake.
It is necessary not to read the Quran wrongly. However, one should not neglect to read the Quran fearing that he would make mistakes. When one notices that he has made a mistake, it will be enough to read that verse again inshallah.
If a person intends to read the whole Quran but gives up after reading half of it, he will receive the reward for reading half of the Quran. It is not similar to performing one rak'ah of a two-rak’ah prayer. Besides, khatm is not fard; it is sunnah.
