The Details of the Question
What should we do if there are some obstacles in the place of sajdah (prostration) while performing a prayer? What proportion of the forehead must touch the ground? The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
It is permissible for a person to perform sajdah by moving his head a bit right or left if he sees that there are obstacles on the ground such as broken pieces of glasses, thorns and sharp pebbles. (Tatarhaniyye)
It will be permissible if someone puts his head on a piece of a small stone while performing sajdah and most of his forehead touches the ground. Otherwise, the sajdah is not considered to have performed. (At-Tanjis / Khaharzada - al-Muhit / Sarakhsi.)
