The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
When prayers are performed as qada after they are missed, reading aloud or silently changes based on the prayer. If it is a prayer in which qira’ah is silent like the noon prayer, qira’ah is made silently. If it is a prayer in which qira’ah is aloud and if the person is an imam, qira’ah is made aloud. If a person performs such a prayer individually, he can read aloud or silently. (Wahba Zuhayli, İsl. Fık. Ans.2, 258-259)
Accordingly, a person who performs the evening prayer as qada individually can read aloud or silently.
When a prayer in which qira’ah is aloud is performed individually, it is permissible to read silently.
