Dear Brother / Sister,
A person who abandons the first sitting of a four-rak'ah prayer needs to perform prostration of forgetfulness at the end of the prayer.
If a person does not sit and tries to stands up after the second rak'ah of a fard prayer, his position is taken into consideration. If his position is closer to sitting, he sits down and does not have to perform prostration of forgetfulness at the end of the prayer. However, if his position is closer to standing, he needs to stand up and perform prostration of forgetfulness at the end of the prayer. For, he has abandoned the first sitting, which is wajib.
