Does a person who reads the chapter of Yasin every night attain the rank of martyrdom?

The Details of the Question

- Is it true that a person who reads the chapter of Yasin every night will definitely die as a martyr?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

There is a hadith narration saying, “If a person keeps reading the chapter of Yasin every night, he will die as a martyr,” but Said b. Musa al-Azdi, who is included its chain of narrators was reported to be a liar. (see Haythami, Majmauz-Zawaid, no: 11298)

However, there are great thawabs and benefits in reciting the chapter of Yasin, which is described as “the heart of the Quran”. Even if we recite it for the sake of Allah and donate its reward to a million people, the reward of a full Yasin for each of them will go to their spirits without any loss in its thawab. For the Quran is a light, and light is indivisible. It makes no difference between one person standing in front of a lamp and a million people standing there; everyone benefits from its light by having a complete lamp. Benefiting from the light of the Quran is like that.

If we can find the time, we should read one “Yasin” in the morning and one in the evening, if not, we should recite one “Yasin” a day, or at least one “Yasin” every Thursday evening. In addition, we should not forget to read the chapter of “al-Mulk”, which is stated in the sound hadith to be an intercessor for its reader.

Allah’s consent is superior to everything else. Therefore, we should base everything we do on Allah’s consent; and the other thawabs will come in parallel with our sincerity within the framework of this consent anyway.
