Can the sunnah of the morning prayer (fajr) be performed after fard in Shafii madhhab? Can a person who follows the imam read a chapter apart from al-Fatiha?

The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
1. It is sunnah to perform the sunnah of the morning prayer (fajr) before the fard if a person does not fear that the time for the morning prayer will end and that he will miss the congregation. If a person fears that one of these two cases will occur, he can perform fard first and sunnah after fard; it is not makruh.
If the sun rises before he performs the morning prayer, it is necessary to perform them as qada (missed) prayers.
2. If the imam reads silently, the person who follows the imam reads a chapter after al-Fatiha since it is sunnah. However, if the imam reads aloud, he does not read another chapter.
