What is the wisdom behind salty water being much more than fresh water?

Dear Brother / Sister,

It is clear that the differentiation between the water types occurs depending on a will. As far as we know, there is a wisdom behind it. Let us deal with the type of water that is suitable for drinking first. We know concretely why this type of water is created by using it and benefitting from it. Fresh water is the source of life for all living things.

Now let us have a look at the other type of water, which is salty water. This kind of water is generally seen in the form of seas and oceans. We will read the words of a scientist regarding the issue below. He makes the following explanation while evaluating the sensitive plan arranging the whole universe:

“Gases coming out of the ground for centuries rise to the air. Most of them are poisonous. However, the air (atmosphere) remains non-contaminated. The balance of gas rates that are suitable for man’s survival does not change. This great mechanism ensuring the balance is the vast waters covering the seas and oceans. Life, nutrients, rains, moderate climate and finally human beings owe their existence to this vast body of water."

The explanation above sheds some light on the issue why they were created differently. These words prove that the creation of waters in different forms is the result of a particular purpose and plan. Thus, a number of balances and harmonies that are necessary in the existence and order of the universe are ensured. Only Allah, the Creator of this universe and all living and nonliving beings in this universe, can arrange it. For, this delicate harmony cannot take place randomly.
