Is Satan an unbeliever or a munafiq (hypocrite), or both of them?
Dear Brother / Sister,
Since Satan declared his unbelief openly, it would be an appropriate approach to regard him as an unbeliever.
"Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord (himself) ungrateful." (al-Isra, 17/27),
"The blasphemers were the evil ones." (al-Baqara, 2/102)
This attribute (unbelief) of Satan is emphasized in the verses above.
However, when Satan tries to deceive people, he does not avoid two-facedness.
"Satan makes them promises, and creates in them false desires; but Satan´s promises are nothing but deception." (an-Nisa, 4/120)
The verse above and the attribute of "khannas" in the chapter of an-Nas indicate this two-facedness. From this viewpoint, we do not doubt about his hypocrisy.
