Should I finish Dhul-Hijjah fasting on the first day of eid by breaking the fast by eating a piece of meat from the sacrificed animal?
According to what some people say, if I finish Dhul-Hijjah fasting by eating the liver of the animal I sacrifice on the first day of eid al-adha, it will be regarded as one more day of fasting. Is it true? When should I finish this fasting? Will you explain Dhul-Hijjah fasting fully?
Dear Brother / Sister,
Dhul-Hijjah fasting is finished by fasting on the day of Arafah, the day before the first day of eid al-adha. Fasting is not performed on the day of eid al-adha.
Besides, it is not a true idea to break fasting by eating the liver of the animal sacrificed in the morning on the first day of eid al-adha and that it will gain a person the thawab of fasting. Besides, it is makruh tahrimi to perform fasting on that day. A person can start eating and drinking with the meat of the sacrificed animal or anything else on the first day of eid. However, it is mustahab to start with the meat of the sacrificed animal.
