Will you explain the hadith "Allah will not accept the thawabs of some people on the Day of Judgment"?

The Details of the Question

I know people of my nation who will come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the mountains of Tihamah. Allah Almighty will make them like scattered dust (worthless)." Will you explain this hadith?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

Thawban radiyallahu anh narrates: "The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

“I know people of my nation who will come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the mountains of Tihamah. Allah Almighty will make them like scattered dust (worthless).”

Thawban said,O Messenger of Allah! Describe them to us and tell us more so that we will not become of them unknowingly.” The Prophet (pbuh) said,

“They are your brothers and from your race, worshipping at night as you do, but they will be people who, when they are alone, transgress the sacred limits of Allah." (Ibn Majah, Zuhd 29)

EXPLANATION:

In this hadith, how negatively the sins that are committed affect man’s deeds is expressed. The Prophet warns the people who commit sins, who do not repent and who insist on sins with that statement.

Besides he also teaches the people who commit sins and then do good deeds thinking, "I will eliminate my sins with my good deeds" how wrong this thought is.
