Why does the religion of Islam regard simple things like ghusl, pork and cleaning the hairs on the body as conditions of entering Paradise?
Dear Brother / Sister,
Islam is a religion that encompasses all aspects of man’s life and deals with all issues. The most important point that must not be forgotten regarding the issue is the purpose of man’s creation. Man is a being that has been created so that he will know Allah’s loftiness and he will do all deeds in order to worship Allah. In that case, he should eat, dress, sleep and have sexual intercourse as if worshipping. If a person intends to take the Prophet (pbuh) as a model with all of his deeds and practice what he did in his life, he will transform his daily chores into worshipping.
It is a nice deed and advice for human beings that the religion of Islam rendered ghusl fard, which is a means of cleanliness for the body, and rendered the flesh of a dirty animal haram.
The condition for entering Paradise is to believe. Therefore, the issues mentioned in question are not basic conditions to enter Paradise. If a person believes, he will enter Paradise after he is purified from his sins in Hell even if he commits major sins. Those who will stay in Hell forever will be unbelievers.
Some decrees of Islam are fard and haram. A person who acts contrarily to those orders will have committed sins. Some decrees are related to good manners. If a person acts contrarily to them, he will not be regarded to have committed sins; therefore, he will not be punished for the deeds of good manners related to eating and drinking, cleanliness of the body, starting something with the right, etc. A person is not regarded to have committed a sin if he does not do them.
“…Do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.” (al-Baqara, 2/195)
The verse above explains why Muslims should be careful about doing everything in a good way.
