Is there a prayer to cure stuttering?

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

It is necessary to undergo both material and spiritual treatment for it. Therefore, we advise you to see a specialist about it.

We advise you to make your child memorize the following prayer said by Hz. Musa and read it frequently:

"Rabbishrahli sadri wa yassir li amri wahlul uqdatan min lisani yafqahu qawli." (Taha, 20/25- 28)

Translation: "O my Lord! Expand me my breast; "Ease my task for me; "And remove the impediment from my speech, "So they may understand what I say."

This prayer is a verse of the Quran; therefore, if it is learned from a person who can read the Quran well, wrong pronunciation will be prevented.

It is also nice to read Salat an-Nariya 4444 times or to have it read.

The Arabic text of the salawat known as “Salat an-Nariya” is included on page 125 of Hizbu Anwaril-Haqaiqin-Nuriya, which also includes “Jawshan al-Kabir”, in the chapter called “Dalalilun-Nur”. It is as follows:

“Allahumma salli salatan kamilatan wa sallim salaman tamman ala sayyidina Muhammadi’nilladhi tanhallu bihil-uqadu wa tanfariju bihil-kurabu wa tuqda bihil-hawaiju wa tunalu bihir-raghaibu wa husnul-khawatimi wa yustasqal-ghamamu bi-wajhihil-karimi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi fi-kulli lamhatin wa nafasin bi-adadi kulli ma’lumin lak.” (O Allah! Send perfect blessings and complete peace upon our master Muhammad by virtue of whom all obstacles are removed, distress is relieved, needs are met, desires are fulfilled and a good end may be achieved and by virtue of whose noble face clouds may be sent, and upon his family and companions with every breath and glance, as many times as is in Your Knowledge.)

This salawat, which is great to read and has a great virtue, is actually a prayer (dua). One gets great thawab when he reads it just like salat al-munjiya. Prayers like those are very useful and effective for our material life and otherworldly future. Many needs and requests are the time for that prayer. A person reads it and asks God Almighty to create its effect and to allow what is requested to happen. If its time has come and if the conditions are suitable, the prayer is accepted exactly and the need is met. However, if it is not appropriate for the exact request to be given due to some reasons that we cannot know and that do not come to our mind, or if it will be harmful for us, we should not feel sorry for it.

The following verses of the Quran should be one’s greatest consolation in the face of divine determination regarding the issue:

“To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (and plans). He bestows (children) male or female according to His Will (and Plan), Or He bestows both males and females, and He leaves barren whom He will: for He is full of Knowledge and Power..”(ash-Shura, 42/49-50)

Therefore, we should ask from Allah what is good for us. We should not forget this issue when we pray to Allah.
