Is it not necessary to tell deniers about Islam according to the verse ‘leave them to babble and play (with vanities)’?

The Details of the Question

"So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised."

- The verse above exists in the Quran for the unbelievers and deniers; it says " leave them to babble and play (with vanities)". I was trying to persuade those who deny in Youtube; then, I saw this verse. Is it appropriate to try to persuade unbelievers?

- I discuss with atheists and unbelievers in the comments part.

The Answer

Dear Brother / Sister,

“So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised.” (az-Zukhruf, 43/83)

The verse above is a consolation for the Prophet, a threat for those unbelievers and a declaration that the Prophet had no other responsibility than proclaiming the message

The verse does not mean that the Prophet (pbuh) needs to leave the unbelievers alone, not to intervene them, not to tell them about Islam and not to fulfill the duty of proclamation. On the contrary, it is an expression of great threat. The Prophet became distressed when some unbelievers attributed a child to Allah. Allah told him that it was unnecessary for him to become distressed and that those slanderers would soon get the penalty they deserved. (cf. al-Maraghi, the interpretation of the verse in question)

As the verses in the Quran stating that the Prophet (pbuh) is to proclaim, the aim of the verse in question is to threaten and warn the unbelievers.

“Therefore, do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. Thou art not one to manage (men´s) affairs. But if any turn away and reject Allah,- Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, For to Us will be their return; Then it will be for Us to call them to account.” (al-Ghashiya, 88/21-26)

It is possible to understand this fact from the verses above.

"(Allah has knowledge) of the (Prophet´s) cry, ‘O my Lord! Truly these are people who will not believe!’ But turn away from them, and say ‘Peace!’ But soon shall they know!" (az-Zukhruf, 43/88-89)

The last verses above of the chapter in which the verse in the question is mentioned expresses a principle that is valid for all those who proclaim:

The duty of a person who proclaims and conveys the divine message is to do his best while proclaiming and then to leave the deniers to babble and play with vanities; he does not have to fight to make them believers by force; it is possible to live in peace with those who have different faiths. The reason for the war is their not accepting law and attacking human rights and freedoms. They are prevented, and rights and freedoms are restored; then, those who choose denial with their free thought and will are left to understand the truth in time or in the hereafter.
