There is time in the grave and the hereafter, but the way time works may differ. On earth, time moves at a different speed while in space it moves at a different speed. One year on earth can correspond to one moment in the sun. In addition, a day of ours is a lifetime for some creatures.

The dimension of time is different in the realms of the hereafter and the grave too. For example, a moment in Paradise can correspond to thousands of years on earth. In addition, time varies from person to person in the realm of the grave. For people in comfort, a thousand years may seem like a moment, while for those in torment, a moment may seem like a thousand years.

People’s lives and units of time they spend are not the same. For example, in a few minutes of dreaming, it feels like days, months and years have passed. Sometimes we do not realize how a night has passed as if we have just gone to bed and woken up.

Similarly, a person who enters the grave early may feel as if he has just woken up in the hereafter. Another person may stay in the grave for a few years, but he may be tormented as if he has stayed there for thousands of years.

Going to the grave early or late may vary according to the person, his sins and his situation. Allah can create a situation there just like in sleep and dreams.

Besides, in order to understand and explain the realms of heaven and hell, it is necessary to see and experience them. In this respect, comparing the conditions of that realm with this realm is like explaining the world to a child in the womb. The child in the womb cannot understand the world; similarly, we, who are in the womb of this world, cannot understand Paradise.
