What is the wisdom behind the prohibition of marrying one’s stepmother?
- According to the Quran, one of the exceptional rules of Islam is the prohibition of marrying one’s stepmother. The same applies to the conditions for marrying one’s stepdaughter.
1) What is the reason for and wisdom behind it?
2) Why is it not like other marriage conditions? For example, a brother can marry his dead brother’s wife after the end of iddah.
3) To understand it better, there must be a reason and wisdom that Science (be it social sciences or psychology) can identify? Can you give some short explanations for it?
Dear Brother / Sister,
If it were permissible to marry a stepmother or a stepdaughter, the Islamic family order would be disrupted. The feelings and thoughts that Islam wants to exist between people would change and this change would not be nice and good.
