Were madhhab imams indicated by the Prophet?
Dear Brother / Sister,
It is stated that some narrations that mention madhhab imams by name are not true. However, there is some information about some imams by signs. Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Shafi are among them.
The Prophet (pbuh) said,
"If the religion were in the Pleiades, some people from Persia would reach and get it." (1)
Thus, he indicated the scholars and saints, primarily Abu Hanifa, who were raised in Iran uniquely.
Hz. Prophet (pbuh) said,
“The scholar of Quraysh will fill the layers of the earth with knowledge (ilm).” (2)
It is regarded that the Prophet (pbuh) indicated Imam Shafi with the hadith above. (3)
