Is there evidence that all deeds of the Prophet (pbuh) are good?

- Are there verses of the Quran and hadiths causing us to believe that all deeds of the Prophet (pbuh) are good?
- I accept that none his deeds is bad and that most of his deeds are good. However, is it not possible for some of his deeds to be neutral?

Dear Brother / Sister,

There are verses of the Quran and hadiths that all deeds of the Prophet (pbuh) are good.   

“And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character.” (al-Qalam, 68/4)

It is emphasized in the verse above that he has exalted ethics and it is expressed as absolute without mentioning any exceptions.

“When something is expressed as absolute, it is understood to be in the highest, loftiest and best level.” According to that rule, it is stated by Allah that the ethics of the Prophet (pbuh) is at the highest level in all aspects.  

“Allah did confer a great favor on the believers when He sent among them an apostle from among themselves, rehearsing unto them the Signs of Allah, sanctifying them, and instructing them in Scripture and Wisdom, while, before that, they had been in manifest error." (Aal-i Imran, 3/164)

It is indicated in the verse above that the Prophet (pbuh) is a special favor of Allah and a great blessing in terms of his nice deeds and attitudes. It shows that he has high ethics.  

“We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures." (al-Anbiya, 21/107)

It is indicated in the verse above that he is a mercy.

Mercy is sheer goodness; it is unalloyed, pure gold.

Since the ethics of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is based on the Quran, Allah Almighty advises his ethics, that is, his living style to all His slaves: “Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct).” (see al-Ahzab, 33/21)

The answer Hz. Aisha gave to those who asked about the ethics of the Prophet (pbuh) is the best answer to our question:  

"The ethics of the Prophet consisted of the Quran.” (see Ibn Hanbal, Musnad 5/ 163. For other narrations with the same meaning, see Muslim, Musafirin 39; Abu Dawud, Tatawwu' 26).

Thus, a person who believes that all commands and prohibitions of the Quran are proper and good has to believe that the Prophet (pbuh) is the living Quran.

On the other hand, the Prophet’s perseverance in his faith, his devotion to Allah, fondness in worship, meticulousness in repentance and asking for forgiveness, valor in wars, his love and compassion toward people, other living beings and especially believers, his mercy, modesty, honesty and justice, his high ethics and many merits and virtues that form his personality are mentioned in many verses of the Quran and he is shown as a model to people.

“My Lord educated me and He educated me in the best way.” (M. Abdurrauf al-Munawi, 1/429);

“I was sent to complete the beauties of ethics.” (al-Muwaṭṭa, Ḥusnul-Kḫuluq, 8)
