I heard that the Prophet said, "There will be some time when mosques will be full but there will be few people who perform prayers properly and who have belief." Do you think we live in that time now?
Dear Brother / Sister,
These kinds of narrations aim to warn people. Everybody needs to take lessons from it individually and try to correct his prayers. It is not appropriate to have bad thoughts about the congregation who goes to the mosque and think that they do not perform prayers properly.
The mischief of end of time covers a long time. We live part of that process now. Some of it was experienced before us; this process will continue after us if Doomsday does not strike. Some of the incidents took place before us; some of them are taking place now and some of them will take place after us.
The expressions above are quoted from some of the meanings of hadiths. The meanings of some of those hadiths are ambiguous and necessitate interpretation. It is not appropriate to attribute especially the following to the people of today: “People will fill mosques but there will be no real believers in them.” For, nice believers that will come at the end of time are also mentioned in hadiths.
We live in an age when scholars like Said Nursi teach investigative belief uniquely. Allah knows they will take place in the times to come. It is also an indication that such people may come together in some mosques, not all mosques.
To sum up:
“A person who follows my way strictly during the time of the mischief of my ummah will gain the thawabs of a hundred martyrs.”(Ibn Adiyy, al-Kamil fid-Duafa, II/739; al-Mundhiri, at-Targhib wat-Tarhib, I/41)
As the hadith above indicates, we live in an age when we sometimes have the opportunity togain the thawabs of a hundred martyrs. There are such lights that increase our enthusiasm in the darkness of this mischief.
