The Details of the Question
Assalaam u Alaikum:
Dear Sir My parents want me to marry a girl of our neighbourhood. She is a very noble girl in all forms. I like her too. But the problem is that I have taken the milk of her mother & vice versa in our childhood but only once. Our mothers have taken this step just for enjoyment without their husband´s permission. Also they told us that are not sure that whether we suck the milk or not. While they compel us to go ahead for marriage but I thought to ask from the Aalim before any step. Please guide me urgently in this regard via my e-mail ID. The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
According to the Hanafi sect, babies who sucked milk only once from the same woman cannot marry each other. If the milk has gone down to the stomach of the baby, it becomes haram. Besides, it does not matter whether their husbands had given permission or not. If there is no milk when a mother gives her breast to the baby, then it is not regarded as haram because "sucking" has not occurred. However, even if one of them has sucked milk, they cannot marry.
