The following is reported from Aisha, the daughter of Sa’d b. Abi Waqqas:

“Sa’d b. Abi Waqqas and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw a woman who was glorifying Allah with seeds of dates or pebbles. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to the woman, ‘Shall I inform you of what is easier or better than this for you?’ Then, he said to her, Say

(Subhanallahi adada ma khalaqa fis-samai wa Subhanallahi adada ma khalaqa fil-ardi  wa Subhanallahi adada ma khalaqa bayna dhalika wa Subhanallahi adada ma huwa khaliq)

(Its meaning: ‘Glory be to Allah the number of what He created in the heaven; and glory be to Allah the number of His creatures in the earth; and glory be to Allah the number in between them; and glory be to Allah the number of those He will create’). Then, he added: Say,

«La hawla wala quwwata illa billah» like that.”

(Tirmidhi, as-Sunan - V, 562)
