I don’t think it’s a sin because I’m not overly exposed!
Sins and harams are not based on our own opinions. They are based on the standards set by our Lord and the boundaries outlined by our Prophet (PEACE BE UPON HIM). Of course, there can be degrees of immodesty. Those who exceed these limits, whether slightly or largely, will suffer punishment in the hereafter according to their degree. But what matters is not to exceed the limits.
“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (al-Ahzab, verse 59)
“And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests. (an-Nur, verse 31)
All of a woman’s body except her face and hands is regarded as awrah. If there is fear of mischief, even the hands and face are haram. Abandon the desires of your soul and stop comforting yourself by saying I don’t think it’s a sin because I’m not overly exposed. Notice how you try to console yourself by looking at those who are more exposed in sin than you by thinking I’m not as exposed as they are. Your duty is to look at those who are more advanced in good deeds and piety and adopt their ways, not to look at those who are more sinful than you and regard yourself as innocent. Since you can dress without being too revealing, why don’t you take it a step further and dress in a way that pleases Allah? Come, obey your Lord’s command and His ruling so that you may be saved from the responsibility of this sin, both in this world and in the Hereafter!
