The Details of the Question
Someone was interested in my sister when she was already engaged to another person with her own free will. This person sent a proposal for my sister. He and his family were humbly refused saying that she is already engaged. Latter this person along with his mother did magic on my sister. Then my sister did nikah with this person under the effect of magic. My questions regarding to this matter are as follows: is it permissible to remain in the nikah of a person who involves himself in act of magic? My second question is that is it permissible to seek help for treating the magic by reciting the verses of Quran? The Answer
Dear Brother / Sister,
The nikah (marriage) is valid but some scholars do not agree on the subject that people can be forced to get married or to divorce under the effect of magic/black magic. They express that the black magic has no such effect. But if such a suspicion exists then it is permissible to eliminate it with lawful prayers or ways and one can consult the persons who are believed to do this better.
