"Damn a person who sets the wife against her husband!" Is the statement above a hadith? If not, is there a hadith or verse regarding the issue?
Dear Brother / Sister,
“A person who bears tales and gossips in order to set a person against another cannot enter Paradise.” (Muslim, Iman, 168)
The Prophet (pbuh) said to his Companions,
“Shall I inform you about the worst ones of you?” They said,
“Yes!” Thereupon, the Prophet (pbuh) said,
“The ones who bear tales, gossip, try to drive a wedge between lovers and seek faults with innocent people.” (Iraqi, Takhriju Ahadithil-Ihya- with Ihya III/151)
There is no doubt that the worst one of driving a wedge between two people is sowing discord between husband and wife.
When the bad aspects of magic / sorcery are mentioned in the Quran, it is emphasized that sorcerers sowed discord between husband and wife. (see al-Baqara, 2/102)
